No Facebook IPO in 2010, Say Investors

Sure, if you're a major investor in Facebook, you could use Facebook to announce that you plan to delay an IPO until after 2010, but it was probably more fun for Jim Breyer of Accel Partners to announce it at a tech conference in Munich instead. "I am happy to announce that there will be no near term IPO on Facebook; this mean[s] 2010," said Breyer, according to Paid Content. Yuri Milner, representing Facebook investor DST, added, "We have permanent capital, we don’t have to return money to investors, so we have unlimited patience. We want to have the vision follow-through. It is up to the board and management to make the call [on when to have an IPO]." Apparently, like Twitter's investors, Facebook's investors seem to believe they've established a firmer, longer-lasting foothold than their on-the-wane predecessors, Friendster and MySpace.
